The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, located on a NW-facing slope in sharply undulating terrain. There are good views to SW−W; rising ground restricts views N−SE.
Raised circular area (c. 25m N−S; c. 25m E−W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 5.5m at NW, c. 4m at E; int. H 0.3-0.4m; ext. H 2.8m at NW, 0.8m at E), which has largely been reduced to a scarp with a broad, low internal rim. Stones protruding along the inner edge of the bank at W−NW may be remnants of a kerb. There are narrow breaks, eroded by farm stock, in the scarp at S and W, and there is a possible entrance gap at SE, now obscured by overgrowth.
The interior is level. There is no obvious trace of the souterrain (MA040-053002), which is indicated as ‘Cave’ in the S half of the interior on the 1922 OS 6-inch map.
A field fence on a NE−SW axis lies immediately outside the bank scarp at SE−S, and remnants of drystone facing along the base of the external face of the bank/scarp at E−SE indicate where another field fence has been removed. Blackthorn scrub is encroaching on the interior, especially at E and S; the bank is thickly ringed with hawthorn, blackthorn and brambles.
