The National Monuments Service's description
At a possible habitation site (MA023-033001-) on the SE shoreline of Inishkea South.
A moderately dense layer (L c. 2m N−S; D 0.2-0.3m) of shells can be traced intermittently in the eroding W-facing slope of the sand mound/possible habitation site. It is composed primarily of limpet shells, with lesser quantities of periwinkle shells, calcined animal bones and occasional charcoal fragments, in a light-grey sandy matrix. It is overlain by a thin layer (D c. 0.1m) of dark, sandy topsoil and sod.
