The National Monuments Service's description
Situated at the edge of a heavily wooded escarpment overlooking the Owenmore River, which lies 25m to S. This church, from which the townland derives its name, is indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a rectangular building named ‘Killeennashask Church (in Ruins)’; on the 1923 edition, it is shown incorporated into a NW−SE field boundary, with another field boundary abutting the NW corner. Neither edition of the map shows the graveyard (MA021-067002-). A report from 1937 (SMR file) recorded a small featureless church at this location. The church is very densely overgrown with scrub, which rendered an inspection in 1995 impossible.
