The National Monuments Service's description

Located in wet ground on the NE shoreline of Curraghfin Lough. The lake occupies a shallow natural basin ringed by gently rising ground. Due to drainage works, the lake is reduced to an expanse of wet marshy ground.
This consists of a large squat boulder (H 1.25m; Wth c. 0.9m; T 0.85m at base, 0.6m at top), roughly rectangular with rounded corners in transverse section, with its long axis aligned NNW-SSE. In profile, on the short axis, the sides of the stone taper gently towards the top, but on the long axis profile the stone appears flat-topped and rectangular.
