The National Monuments Service's description
In a low cliff face on the W side of Kilcummin Head.
A concentration (L c. 2m, D 0.2m) of shells and animal bones is exposed in section, 0.3m below the sod, in a layer of dark grey soil flecked with charcoal fragments. The lens of shells is defined by small stone slabs (L c. 0.15-0.3m; T 0.05-0.1m), mostly lying horizontal, which project from the section face above and around the shell layer. The shells are predominately limpets, but a few periwinkle and mussel shells are also present. The bones include cattle and pig, including a very young piglet, and a few fish bones. There is an enclosure (MA008-011----) immediately to S. The relationship of the midden to the enclosure is unclear; part of the enclosure wall may overlie the midden.
