The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture 400m N of the Tooraleagan River that marks the townland boundary with Sraharla and the County boundary with Cork. Annotated ‘Bawnlougha Fort’ on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map where it is depicted as a rectangular-shaped enclosure. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a sub-rectangular-shaped area (dims. c. 30m N-S; 28mE-W) defined by a scarp from E-S-W incorporated into a field boundary elsewhere. Truncated at N by field boundary running NE-SW and at NE by field boundary running NW-SE. Outline of roughly circular-shaped area (diam. c. 28m) enclosed by poorly preserved bank and fosse visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages where it is truncated at E by a field boundary running NW-SE.
See attached Google Earth orthoimages.
