The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture 700m W of the River Aherlow that marks the townland boundary with Lyre. Townland boundary with Ballyfauskeen to immediate S and W. Earthwork (LI049-202----) lies 205m to NE. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area (dims. c. 31m NE-SW; 28m N-W) defined by a scarp with traces of an outer fosse from S-W-NW. Identified as a ringfort (Site 3/6) on examination of Bord Gáis Éireann aerial photographs taken 03/11/1984. Outline of scrub-covered monument visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages.
