House - 16th/17th century

Stone house listed as House B standing on Sarsfield St. in the town of Kilmallock described in the Urban Survey of County Limerick as following (Bradley et. al. 1989, 150-1); 'Many of the houses standing in present-day Sarsfield St. are undoubtedly 17th century structures concealed by cement or plaster and, regrettably, diagnostic identifying features are not always immediately recognisable. The well-known picture by Thomas Mulvaney, now in the National Gallery of Ireland, shows a number of such houses before they were plastered over. House B - When the house to the north of Parkinson’s Supermarket was exposed recently, seventeenth century cut limestone fireplaces and chimneys could be seen in its south wall, indicating that Parkinson’s Supermarket is built on the site of a seventeenth century house'.
