The National Monuments Service's description

In Abbeyfeale graveyard (LI042-012002-). No visible surface trace of roofless church 'with a lofty tower and pointed spire' shown on 17th century map (Westropp 1904-05, 404); there was some memory of this in 1840 though nothing then remained (OSL vol. 1, 42-3). This probably remains of parish church, though there are references to a 12th century Cistercian cell at Abbeyfeale (Gwynn & Hadcock 1988, 123). According to Westropp (ibid.) 'Some fragments of its walls stood in the graveyard, and are said to be embodied in the new Roman Catholic church' (OSL, 143).
