The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the demesne lands of Ryves Castle which is built on site of Castle Jane (LI041-047-----) located 220m to SSE. Ballyscaddan burial ground known locally as Castle Jane graveyard depicted as a rectangular shaped area (approx. dims. 36m N-S x 45m E-W) enclosed by a post-1700 stone wall with entrance gate at N. Described by Westropp (1904-5, 452) as 'a graveyard, having monuments of the Ryans, 1705-79'. Possible medieval church site (LI041-019001-) located inside burial ground.
