The National Monuments Service's description
In reclaimed pasture immediately W of a watercourse and 260m S of a railway track. Knocklong fort (LI040-087----) lies 200m to S. Depicted as a raised circular-shaped platform (diam. c. 17m) defined by a scarp with fosse at N intersected at W by a stream on OSi 25-inch map. Westropp (1917-19, 175) described it as follows; ‘The fort nearest the railway is a perfect little oval mound, 11 feet to 12 feet (3.4m–3.65m) high, 42 feet (12.8m) across north and south, by 30 feet (9m) east and west at the top. The fosse is 15 feet (4.5m) wide, 4 feet to 5 feet (1.2-1.5m) deep and partly wet with no outer ring'. Visible as an oval-shaped mound enclosed by a fosse from SE, S, W and delimited by trees elsewhere on Google Earth orthoimage dated 19/09/2019 where it is Intersected at E by field boundary running N-S.
