The National Monuments Service's description
In reclaimed pasture, immediately E of the townland boundary with Goatisland, in NW quadrant of a possible field system (LI040-047001-). A barrow complex (LI040-049001/011-) lies to the NE. Not marked on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Depicted as a raised oval-shaped area (dims. c. 18m N-S; 20m E-W) defined by a scarp on OSi 25-inch map. Described by O’Kelly (1942, 53) as a 'Type A earthwork' consisting of; ‘A circular platform which has a slightly hollow centre. Outside it is a fosse and outer bank. It is not possible to say if the platform had a bank at its edge or not. The entrance is not recognisable and the fosse and outer bank are continuous all around. The height of the platform is about 4’ [1.2m] and the overall diameter is 150’ [45.7m]. The monument is visible on aerial photographs (BGE 1/50000 2549) taken 03/11/1984 on the Bórd Gáis Éireann gas pipeline. Partially levelled monument visible as a circular shaped area defined by a fosse on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12. Trace of much degraded bank and wet external fosse visible on Google Earth orthoimages.
See attached Bórd Gáis Éireann aerial photograph and Google Earth orthoimages.
