The National Monuments Service's description
In improved pasture 45m W of large enclosure (LI039-067----). Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a circular-shaped enclosure in field annotated ‘Crow Field’. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a circular-shaped area (diam. c. 40m) enclosed by a bank from SE-W-N reduced to a scarp elsewhere with an outer fosse. Surveyed by Henry A. Wheeler in 1970 prior to land reclamation works and described as poorly preserved monument consisting of a slight raised circular-shaped area enclosed by a bank (ext. H c. 3' /0.9m; int. H. 0.1m) only visible from S-W with external wet fosse (Wth 6-8 ft [1.8-2.4m]; 2 ft [0.6m] deep) (SMR Field Report 27/05/1970). Westropp (1916-17, 21) refers to ‘two conjoined and two very close’ forts in Clogher-East. No surface remains visible of levelled monument on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12. Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020 shows N quadrant of levelled site now occupied by farmyard buildings and transected at E by farm track running NW-SE. Partial outline of levelled monument visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 05/04/2006.
