The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, 185m E of a townland boundary with Ballygrennan. Not depicted on OSi historic mapping. Identified during topsoil-stripping on the Bord Gáis Éireann Pipeline to the West (Grogan et. al. 2007, 261). Excavated in 2002 by Brian Halpin under Licence No. 02E1082 and described as a small, roughly subcircular-shaped pit (1.5m N-S; 1m E-W) with a shallow cut into the orange/yellow boulder clay. The fill contained burnt stones and moderate amounts of charcoal which would be typical of fulacht fiadh material. It may be an isolated roasting pit but more probably was associated with a now ploughed-out fulacht fiadh (Halpin 2004, 311). Monument has been fully excavated and is not visible on OSi aerial orthimage taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthophoto taken 2011-2013 or on Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018.
