The National Monuments Service's description
On flat pasture to the rear of a row of modern houses built along Church Road (R516) on the outskirts of Croom, 500m ENE of the townland boundary with Carrigeen. Located 100m N of a possible ditch-barrow (LI030-022----) and 125m NNE of a ringfort (LI030-021----). The site is depicted as an embanked fort on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map and is later depicted as an enclosure (ext. diam. c. 50m) surrounded by a fosse on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map. The ringfort is visible and densely covered in scrub vegetation on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12 and on Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013. Inspected by the OPW in 1957, the ringfort consisted of a level circular raised area (int. diam. c. 32m) defined by an external bank and fosse. The bank (Wth 4.5m; H int. 0.6m; ext. 1.5m) defines the interior of the site on the SE side of the ringfort. The fosse (Wth 4.5m; D int. 1.5m; ext. 0.85m) surrounds the site on all sides with the exception of an entrance causeway (Wth c. 9m) on the E (SMR File). The site is tree covered on the Google Earth orthoimages taken 05/02/2009 and 28/06/2018.
