The National Monuments Service's description

In low lying level pasture with good views in all directions. The site is located 115m SW of the River Maigue and the townland boundary with Caherass. Ringfort (LI021-083----) 380m to WNW. The site is depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a large oval enclosure (ext. diam. 74m N-S; 67m E-W) surrounded by a fosse. It is shown standing in a pocket of woodland on the W side of a small stream that forms the townland boundary with Ballynahown. Inspected by the ASI in 2000 when it was described as a raised ovoid-shaped area (int. diam. 35m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth 6.5m; int. D 0.3m; ext. D 1.5m) reduced to a scarped edge, intervening fosse (base Wth 2.8m; overall Wth 8.05; D 1.3m) and flat-topped external bank (Wth 6.85m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 0.6m) with cobbled entrance (Wth 2m) at NNE. The interior was level and overgrown. A stream flows (S-N) skirting the external base of the external bank at E. A field boundary is located (E-W) along the S of the site skirting the external edge of the external bank. The banks and fosse are all heavily overgrown with trees and shrubs visible on Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018 and 14/02/2020.
