The National Monuments Service's description
Stritche's Castle described in the Urban Survey of Limerick (Bradley et. al. 1989, 262) as following; 'Described in 1657 as "the stone Castle or house of Alderman James Stritch, and a cross stone-house, now made into a cythadell or garrison" in St Munchin’s Parish' (Westropp 1906-7, 80). According to O'Flaherty (2010, 27), 'the stone castle or house ... on site of later bishop's palace ... Alderman James Stritch's stone castle or house 1654 (CS); 1681 (Dineley MS, 126)'.
