The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Undivided nave and chancel (max. dims. 12m by 6m) built of rough boulders, limestone blocks and greywacke slabs. Only the W gable survives to near its original height and has plasterwork still adhering to its inner face. It is almost featureless except for part of a window in the E end of the S wall, a window ope in the E end of the N wall and a probable doorway in the E end of the S wall. No dressed stone is evident but the size of the church and the position of the doorway suggest a late medieval date. (CLAJ 1944, 292)
