The National Monuments Service's description
In level pasture, beneath two oak trees. Described in 1837 as 'the pedestal of a cross, at which the people perform stations. This must have been one of the crosses of the termon of Ardagh' (OSL, 39). Remains consist of a fragment of a cross-base with a subrectangular socket set in it (SMR file, 1977). The stone (L 0.6m; Wth 0.4m; H 0.1m), known locally as 'St Patrick's Knee', is set within a modern-looking, crescentic-shaped, low cairn (2m N-S; 1.6m E-W; H 0.25m).
