The National Monuments Service's description
This togher (L 173m; Wth 1.2m), orientated ENE-WSW, extended across eleven fields (Dunne 1999, 41, 99DD0003A-J). The remains were on the field surface and were being milled. They were largely visible as a band of degraded brushwood and wood chips, however, there was evidence to show that the togher survived intact in places beneath ground level, particularly under the central dome of the fields. Two parallel lines of brushwood (diam. 0.05cm) formed the edges with a third, similar, line extending along the centre. The body of the togher consisted of tightly packed longitudinal small brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.02m and 0.04m max.), along with some twigs. The longitudinal elements rested on a substructure of transverse large brushwood. Excavation revealed the togher to be composed of longitudinal small brushwood and twigs on the upper surface. This layer was supported by larger brushwood also laid longitudinally or at a slight angle to the upper surface. This lower surface was further supported by longitudinal small brushwood and twigs (Dunne 2002b, 203-4).
