The National Monuments Service's description
On a gentle SSW-facing slope overlooking the river Shannon. Depicted as a large circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised circular area (diam. 34.8m) enclosed by a very wide low bank of earth and stone (Wth 9.1m; H 0.45m max.) with the remains of a modern, drystone wall along its inner edge. From NNE-S-SSW the bank has been almost completely levelled. There is no trace of a fosse and the original entrance is not recognisable. Most of the interior has been destroyed due to quarrying in the early 1970s. 'Skeletons' were uncovered here during the quarrying operations (local information).
