The National Monuments Service's description
This structure consisted of a deposit (L 3.4m; Wth 3.1m; D 0.19m) of seven roundwoods (diam. 0.08-0.12m; L 2.7m max.) and eight pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.04m; av. L 0.2m), all except one of which were orientated E-W. The elements were very loosely laid, one to two pieces deep, with gaps of up to 0.5m between them. The roundwoods were in a very good condition, however, the brushwood was degraded and fragmentary. The overall dimensions of the remains were exaggerated by the occurrence of occasional scattered material and the main part of the deposit was approximately 2.3m x 2m. Woodworking was evidenced by well-preserved metal-cut toolmarks on the larger elements and the wood species used included birch, alder and ash. A carved peg or stopper of ash was recovered. The deposit was 3.4m W of one togher (LF004-007----) and 2.8m E of another (LF004-035----). Radiocarbon dating revealed a date range of 400-200 cal BC (Wk-20958) (Moore and O’Connor 2009a, 39-40, EDC 40).
