The National Monuments Service's description
This small platform (L 2.8m; Wth 2.25m; D 0.2m) was composed of parallel roundwood (diam. 0.06‑0.13m; L 0.18‑1.84m) and occasional brushwood (diam. 0.01‑0.03m; L 0.05‑0.2m). The elements were predominantly orientated NNW‑SSE, with occasional pieces running perpendicular to this. Nine pegs (diam. 0.01‑0.03m) were set at angles of 80‑90º throughout the structure, with a marked concentration in the central and SE areas. The horizontal elements were laid one to two pieces deep and there was a marked gap in the centre. The wood was in a good to moderate condition and woodworking was evidenced by metal‑cut toolmarks on several pieces, including the pegs. Wood species identified include ash, willow, hazel, birch and apple‑type. The platform lay to the E of and 0.28m below a togher (LF004‑009‑‑‑‑) and in structure was very similar to another platform (LF004‑032‑‑‑‑). Radiocarbon dating revealed a date range of 1040‑830 cal BC (Wk‑20949) (Moore and O’Connor 2009a, 20‑21, EDC 9).
