The National Monuments Service's description
This togher (L 12m min.; Wth 4m; D 0.17m), orientated E‑W, consisted two layers. The upper layer was fragmented and was composed of transverse and irregularly laid brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.04m), roundwood (diam. 0.05-0.12m) and twigs. Traces of a hurdle were evident at its E end and a series of longitudinal roundwood defined the N edge of its W end. The lower layer (1.3 x 1.4m) was composed of a dense deposit of fragmentary brushwood and bark, and was identified only in the central portion of the togher. Sixteen pegs (diam. 0.03‑0.07m; L 0.3‑2.83m), set at angles of 75‑85º, were set along the N edge of the togher, with a marked concentration at the W end. The wood was in a poor to moderate condition and metal‑cut toolmarks were evident throughout. Wood species used included hazel, apple‑type, ash, alder, birch, willow and holly. A carved alder bark disc was also recovered. Radiocarbon dating revealed a date range of 380‑160 cal BC (Beta‑217358). A platform (LF004‑011‑‑‑‑) lay to the E of and 0.28m below the togher (Moore and O’Connor 2009a, 19‑20, EDC 7).
