The National Monuments Service's description
The bawn at Parke's Castle is five-sided in shape (max. int. dims 36m N-S; 33m E-W), with walls 4.5m high except on the SE side, which is c. 1m lower. It incorporates a gatehouse (LE010-037005-) at the E side with corner towers at the NW and NE angles and an outer moat (Wth 8m; D 2m) on the W, N and E sides. The results of the archaeological excavations undertaken at Parke’s Castle between 1971 and 1975, and the conservation works, have been published (Foley and Donnelly 2012).
