The National Monuments Service's description

Built into a masonry wall on the shore of Lough Gill beside Parke's Castle (LE010-037---). Circular chamber (int. diam. 1.3m; H 1.6m) constructed with drystone-walling and with an entrance (Wth 0.65m; H 0.7m) at SW, facing the lake.

This is a National Monument in state ownership: No. 390

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

The results of the archaeological excavations undertaken at Parke’s Castle between 1971 and 1975 have been published (Foley and Donnelly 2012).
