The National Monuments Service's description
The lower portion of a limestone slab (L 1.08m; Wth 0.85m; min. T 0.07m), with straight sides, lying prostrate towards the W end of the centre of the nave of St Mary’s church (KK026-010012-), Callan. It is decorated with an incised cross-shaft terminates with a stepped base. The inscription in Black Letter script is very worn but is evident in the border towards the top of the slab on both sides and continues, in another line, inside the border on both sides. The broken slab was reused in the 18th/19th century when it was probably placed upright in the ground and incised with an inscription in English which begins, ‘Erected by R[obert] Com[erford] of Callan ….’.
