The National Monuments Service's description
Within the graveyard (KK023-072002-) associated with the medieval church of Burnchurch (KK023-072001-), 8m E of the C of I church. The lower portion of a limestone graveslab (L 1.15m; Wth 0.68m), apart from the dexter border which is also missing. It is decorated in false relief with a banded cross. The cross-shaft rests on a stepped cross-base. Within the border (Wth 0.105m) there is an inscription in Latin in black letter script which includes the date 1578. The inscription is visible but difficult to decipher. The side of the slab is straight around the upper edge (D 0.08m) and chamfered towards the base.
Within the graveyard there are other medieval graveslabs (KK023-072004- to KK023-072010-), two side panels from chest tombs (KK023-072008-; KK023-072011-) and the mensa of a chest tomb (KK023-072005-).
