The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture. A roughly circular enclosure is indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map, by the 1900 revision the outer bank from NNE-E-S appears to have been removed. A bivallate ringfort (int. diam. c. 23m; overall diam. c. 40) consisting of an earthen bank with a stone core (int. H c. 0.5m; overall Wth c. 2.4m), a waterlogged fosse (Wth c. c. 2-5m; D 0.8m) and an outer bank (ext. H c. 1.2m; overall Wth c. 5.8m). In 1950 the monument was partially archaeologically excavated by Gearóid Ó hIceadha of the OPW prior to its removal as part of Land Project works (OPW correspondence, November 1950). There is a measured plan [in imperial] of the monument showing the excavation cuttings, as well as a profile across the ringfort (ibid.). The excavation consisted of a cutting through the E and S quadrants from the centre of the outwards and a number of other smaller cuttings (ibid.). The finds included a stone-lined hearth, a spindle whorl, iron knife and hones (ibid.). No pottery or bones were found (ibid.). The monument has been levelled, though its outline is visible on satellite imagery.
