The National Monuments Service's description
On the steep NE slopes of a NW-SE valley, in pasture. There are very good views to the NW, SE and SW along and across valley. An oval area (dims. c. 88m NW-SE; c. 61m NE-SW) indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as an oval tree plantation and on the 1900 revision as an oval field. This may be the 'fort' referred to by O'Kelly (1985, 28), who states that in Boggan townland, 'there is a fort or moat overlooking the Munster River'. This 'fort' (KK017-007---) may have been an interpretation of this oval feature from the OS 6-inch map. The oval enclosure has since been removed. It appears to have been enclosing a natural hummock.
