The National Monuments Service's description

A two-arch bridge running NW-SE across the Dinin River, providing access to Jenkinstown House demesne. This bridge appears to be the one depicted on the Down Survey (1655-6) barony map of Fassadining and the parish of Mayne (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). On the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map it is called Jenkinstown Bridge and on the 1946-7 revision Tower Bridge. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (Reg No 12401410) describes it as a 'Two-arch rubble limestone Classical-style road bridge over river, dated 1647. Widened, c.1825. Random squared rubble limestone walls with squared rubble limestone triangular cut-water to pier having rendered coping, cut-limestone stringcourse supporting balustraded parapet having cut-limestone date stone/plaque (dated 1647), and carved cut-limestone coping. Pair of segmental arches with squared rubble limestone voussoirs to original arch having rubble stone soffits, and cut-limestone voussoirs to additional arch having squared rubble limestone soffits' (www.buildingsofireland.ie). The memorial stone (KK014-014001-), currently inserted into the N parapet, records that Patrick Dowlye erected the bridge, at his own expense, in 1647 (Hoyne 1966, 39-40).
