The National Monuments Service's description
A castle (KK013-094001-)and three houses (KK013-094002-) are indicated on the Down Survey map (1655-6) parish map of ‘Clonetubrid and Glasshicroe’ and the castle is also indicated on the Down Survey map (1655-6) parish map of ‘Belanemarra’ (Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). According to O'Kelly (1969, 5), 'Sart castle stood in the Cellar field, so named from the castle cellar still remaining'. Field inspection in 1987 identified this field as being SE of Sart crossroads. However, in the field immediately S of this there is a large rectangular cropmark (dims. c. 104m NE-SW; c. 80m NW-SE), visible on satellite imagery (Google Earth, imagery date 28 June 2018) which is likely to be a bawn associated with the castle. Neither the castle or bawn are are visible at ground level.
