The National Monuments Service's description

On the floor of the Nuenna river valley, above the flood plain, in mixed tillage and reclaimed grassland. There are good views along and across valley to N-S-E-W. There is a local tradition of burials (KK013-028001-) associated with the church. The church is described in the OS Letters (1839) as, 'the east gable remains to the full height; the south wall and east gable remain to the height of eight feet [2.4m], but the north wall is level with the ground. The door must have been in the north wall since it does not appear anywhere else. There is a broken window in the south wall; there is a pointed window in the east gable four feet [1.2m] from the ground, four feet [1.2m] high and two and a half feet [0.75m] wide on the inside; six feet [1.8m] from the ground, three feet three and a half inches [0.91m] high, five inches [0.12m] wide at top and five and a half [0.13m] at bottom on the outside. They call it the Church of Cuilisiol and it has no burying ground attached' (O'Flanagan ed. 1930, vol. 1, 202 (67)). However, some sixty years later Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 269) records, 'its ruin have been cleared away'. The land has been reclaimed and the church is not visible at ground level.
