The National Monuments Service's description
In rough hill pasture, on the S-facing slopes of Barrerneen. Curvilinear stretches of collapsed stone walls (T 1m; H 0.3m) occur intermittently throughout an area measuring c. 250m E-W x c. 230m N-S. The lower courses of the walls protrude above the surface of the bog. There are numerous gaps in the walls and rubble is scattered downslope. There are eight hut sites (KE103-017001-, KE103-017002-, KE103-017004-, KE103-017005-, KE103-017006-, KE103-017007-, KE103-017008-, KE103-017009-) within this network of field walls.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
