The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on a level terrace, on the lower N-facing slopes of Knockeirka. A circular area (diam. 16m) defined by the low grass-covered base course of a drystone wall (T 1m; H 0.2m). A later drystone wall (T 0.4m; H 1.2m) stands on its outer rim. Field boundaries abut the cashel at NW and SE. Field-clearance rubble is piled intermittently against the outer face of the wall.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
