The National Monuments Service's description
In rough hill pasture, on a NE-facing slope overlooking Lough Inchiquin. A circular area (diam. 7m) defined by a low grass-covered bank (int. H 0.3m) with some stone visible on its external face. There are numerous breaks in the bank. The bank material contains large quantities of charcoal. According to local information, the woodland in the area was cut down and converted to charcoal in the late 17th-/early 18th-century to fuel Sir William Petty's ironworks near Kenmare.
