The National Monuments Service's description
New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Knockanruddig, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. Raised rectangular enclosure constructed of earth and stone, located in rough, undulating pasture east of the access spur to T.21 and c.25m southwest of NICH08 (ITM grid co-ord. 508207, 570722). Constructed on a moderate east facing downslope and encloses an area measuring 20m E-W by 12m N-S. The western end of the feature is defined by a low drystone wall, containing medium to large stones and occasional boulders, which is generally only one course and less than 0.5m high and less than 0.75m wide. From its western, upslope end it extends downslope to the east but the raised interior partially negates the natural gradient. The perimeter in the eastern downslope portion of the feature is defined by a raised area of earth and stone, with the internal area of the feature raised between 0.5m and 0.7m above the surrounding exterior ground level. Disused trackway extends upslope to northwest to immediate east of the feature. Most likely a post-medieval agriculture feature, similar in morphology to sites such as CH17, CH18, NICH14, NICH35.
