The National Monuments Service's description
New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Knockanruddig, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. The remains of a previously unidentified hut site were identified to the northeast of the access route to T.21 at ITM Grid Co-ordinate 508210, 570747. Situated on a level terrace with higher ground to the southwest and expansive views to the north and northeast, the feature comprised a circular mound of loose drystones, surrounding a central depression. Large and flat slabs present in the central area likely represent a collapsed roofing element. The largely overgrown mound measured 5m north to south by 4.8m east to west from its outer edge. The internal depression measured 2m north to south by 1.8m east to west, the feature had a maximum height of c.0.60m. A small gap in the perimeter of the mounded stones to its east of the feature likely represents an entrance. A large upright stone, measuring 0.7m in height abuts the feature on its north side.
