The National Monuments Service's description

New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Grousemount, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. Sub-circular dry-stone enclosure identified on realigned access spur to T.07 at ITM Grid co-ordinate 509981, 569865. Located c.40m southeast of NICH06. Due to the discovery of NICH20 the access spur T.07 had to be realigned once again to follow a more southerly route. The enclosure is formed by a sub-circular drystone wall measuring 8.5m (N-S) by 7.5m (E-W), which consists of medium to large sized generally angular stones stacked up to three courses (c.0.7m) high along its southern and western portions. Along its northern portion, the stones of the drystone wall are larger and are vertically or diagonally stacked, these stones measure up to 0.85m in height. The wall is lowest along its eastern portion where it is only one course and c. 0.2m to 0.3m high. The wall generally measures between 0.7m and 1m wide. There is evidence of partial wall collapse on all sides of the enclosure. The drystone enclosure most likely represents the remains of an animal pen. Local information suggests that the enclosure functioned as a cattle pen as recently as the early 20th century.
