The National Monuments Service's description

New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Grousemount, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. Approximately 4m to the north of NICH06, a further feature utilising a natural rock formation was observed at ITM grid co-ordinate 509953, 569916. The north end of the large rock slab which acts as the north wall of a rock shelter leans at an angle against another rock formation to its northeast. A sheltered crevice in the shape of an inverted ‘V’ is formed by the two rocks. A small wall formed by random, loose stones was constructed across the opening of the crevice on its west side forming the shelter. The wall extends for 2.6m north-south and is a maximum of 1m in height, the area sheltered by the rock formation measures approximately 3.5m in length northwest-southeast.
