The National Monuments Service's description

New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Grousemount, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. The remains of a small sub-circular hut site located on a level terrace on a moderate downward slope to southwest. The site is located between NICH02 and CH24 at ITM grid co-ordinate 509170, 569217 (southwest of T.12). It is situated to the immediate west of a one-course high drystone wall, which forms the eastern wall of the hut. This wall extends for roughly 50m in an east to west direction between two areas of rock ridging. The northern side of the hut is formed by a large overhanging outcropping of rock, with a one-course high arc of stone forming the west and south sides of the feature. The feature measures 2.3m north to south by 1.8m east to west, the space enclosed between the arc of stones and the rock outcrop measures 2m north to south by 1.2m east to west. The stones are generally less than 0.3m in height.
