The National Monuments Service's description

New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Grousemount, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. The structure is rectangular in plan and is located to the immediate south of a slight rise in the landscape, utilising natural rock outcropping to form part of its north and east sides. The structure is constructed with random loose stones and measures 5m northeast-southwest by 2.6m northwest-southeast, the wall remnants are generally one course in width, an average of 0.5m. The walls are of greater height internally (max. 0.8m) than externally (c.0.5m) suggesting either the utilisation of a natural hollow or a slight purposeful reduction of the internal floor level. The southwest wall of the structure extends beyond the outer face of the southeast wall and creates an entrance 0.6m in width (Cronin et. al. 2018, 47, 51).
