The National Monuments Service's description
This complex of pre-bog walls is located high on the S slopes of Knocknagantee, on the SE side of Eagles Lough. The mountainous terrain is covered in a thin mantle of peat and the walls occupy an area measuring about 600m N-S x 380m E-W. One wall at the S end of the complex runs E-W for 15m, while further N, a long, curvilinear stretch almost encircles a low knoll; both walls are composed of large boulder-like slabs, most of which are set upright. A third wall, to NE of the second, curves gently in a semicircle for a distance of 140m. Two adjoining walls extend up the mountain slope for several hundred metres; these are composed of flat slabs, small boulders and some uprights. A modern E-W field boundary crosses these walls. A number of fionnán enclosures occur in the complex.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 38. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
