The National Monuments Service's description
In rough hill pasture, on the S-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain and within a network of relict field boundaries (KE085-003006-). A roughly circular area (26m E-W; 23.5m N-S) defined by a drystone wall (T 1m; H 1m) W-E which is lower (H 0.2m) and grass-covered E-W. There is a possible entrance (Wth 1.6m) at SSW. The S portion of the interior is raised (H 0.2m) and the N portion is cut into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. However, the interior still retains a gentle slope down to the S. A modern E-W wall crosses the interior to the N of centre. A triangular sheep enclosure (4.2m N-S; 3.8m E-W) in the NW quadrant is defined by the cashel wall at NW, by the modern E-W wall at S and by another modern wall at NE. The entrance (Wth 1m) to the cashel is at SE. Loose stones are scattered along the cashel wall internally NW-NE. A wall from the network of relict field boundaries extends in a general SE direction from the SE arc of the cashel. There is an enclosure (KE085-003007-) c. 38m to the SE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
