The National Monuments Service's description

In rough hill pasture, on the SW-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain, overlooking the valley of the Owbaun River to the SW and within the SW corner of a network of relict field boundaries (KE084-044001-). A horseshoe-shaped mound (16m NE-SW; 11m NW-SE; max. H 1.5m) of burnt material with the opening (c. 3m NE-SW) facing SE towards an adjacent stream.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
