The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on an E-facing slope, on the NE extremity of a ridge overlooking the Cummeenboy stream. A raised circular area (23m E-W; 22m N-S) defined by a poorly preserved earthen bank. The bank (Wth 8.15m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H. 2.8m) survives best SSW-NW and intermittently elsewhere. Short stretches of it (Wth 7.65m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 4.2m) are evident NE-ESE where its external face slopes gradually downwards. The bank is in poor condition SE-S. There is an entrance (Wth 2m) at S. An outer fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 0.35m) is visible SW-NW. The interior is uneven and slopes gently down to the ESE and there is a souterrain (KE084-009001-) in the S half. Trees grow around the perimeter SE-W.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
