The National Monuments Service's description

In boggy pasture at the base of rock outcrop, on the S side of a ridge, overlooking Valencia Harbour. The site consists of an impressive entrance passage facing SSE. Its W side consists of five uprights, the E side of three. The uprights average 1m high, .6m wide and .15m thick. An upright slab occurs to either side of the passage, and more may be concealed beneath the dense growth of furze. Though probably a hut, it is possible that this site was a caher. To W a series of uprights may be the remnants of an old field wall.

The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1338. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
