The National Monuments Service's description
Children's Burial Ground: This subcircular enclosure, truncated by a nineteenth-century laneway at W, is located in sloping pasture which overlooks the Valencia river estuary to S. The enclosing bank, composed of earth and stone, averages .9m high externally and is 2.2m and .4m in internal height at N and S respectively. Regular stone facing revets its inner face at S. The enclosed area measures 41m N-S x 57.4m E-W and is lower than surrounding ground level. It is heavily overgrown and features numerous uninscribed, grave-markers, most of which are upright. A stone pair (KE079-023----) is located c. 20m to SE.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1030. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
