The National Monuments Service's description
This shell midden, formerly exposed on the foreshore of the White Strand in Valencia Harbour, is no longer visible. It appears to have been a substantial deposit and was extant in the 1940s (local information).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 2. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
