The National Monuments Service's description
Near a small area of woodland c. 450m N of the present Muckross House (KE074-030----). Some undulations and ruins are evident among the undergrowth. According to J. Larner (pers. comm.), this is the site of a house built c. 1770 to replace an early 18th-century house (KE074-027----), the site of which may lie c. 1km to the WSW. Bary (1994, 188), basing her description on a sketch in Muckross House, states that it was 'a typical eighteenth century habitation of three storeys over a basement with seven bays and dormer windows on the third storey...It was gable-ended, with numerous chimneys. It had a strange, square addition at the eastern end , which appeared attached to the house...'
